Dr. Lexie Signor is one of the most in-demand, versatile, and technically dazzling trumpet players in the Midwest; between her work as a classical soloist, a brilliantly dynamic lead player, or spinning gorgeous nostalgic melodies from days gone by she is undeniably one of the most formidable players performing for audiences across the country today. When she's not touring with acts such as Adele, Keith Urban, The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, or Wayne Newton, she keeps a full docket as a one-woman-wrecking crew of studio know-how laying down tracks for up and coming artists such as the Grammy Nominated New York Chillharmonic, Latin-Jazz Grammy Nominated La Orquestra Sinfonietta, Gospel singer Joy Westbrook, Nashville guitarist Sadie Johnson, and Grammy Nominee Pepe Rivero.
Lexie hails from Northern Michigan and showed extremely advanced musical prowess from a very early age. Her father, a concert pianist, taught her to read music before she read English and thanks to the efforts of her high school band director going above and beyond to help foster her natural musical prowess she developed her skill on the trumpet. From there, she went on to attend the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy thus spring boarding her career as a professional musician. Her God-given abilities and keen sense of musicality have led her to become one of the most sought after live and studio musicians to graduate the hallowed halls of Indiana University. While she was there, she completed two minor areas in Jazz Studies and Music Theory. Her dissertation "The Practical Guide to Big Band Terminology and Symbols" is an excellent ready reference for all educators who share a passion for playing and teaching big band music at any level.
Dr. Signor's deep knowledge of the music industry, audio production, music theory, and historical context have earned her a pristine reputation among a truly diverse group of musicians. She is equally at home in the concert hall and studio, with the Great American Songbook and Jazz of all genres, Gospel, historical works for trumpet, and is often a featured guest lecturer and clinician for schools across the country particularly on the subject of Big Band History and notation. Her students have gone on to win positions in prestigious music academies in their own right as well attesting further to Lexie's overall effectiveness as a well rounded musician.
As an early-established innovator in the social media world, Lexie's TikTok and Instagram presence has helped her continue to push the musical envelope with her ample use of pedals, following in the great footsteps of Rashawn Ross, EVI (electronic valve instrument) with heavy influence from John Swana, and capping it off with her keytar keeping the spirit of her late father alive and well in the studio.
In an industry over run by men, Lexie's tireless work shines as a beacon for young women everywhere. She keeps a trumpet studio of comeback players and especially loves mentoring the future femme musicians who are making their way onto the scene. Dr. Signor's influence can be heard and seen on stages large and small across the country and is likely already on a recording you know and love.
Additionally, Dr. Signor is a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 3 in Indianapolis.
Dr. Lexie Signor has hosted eight Episodes.
